What a coup!
Move over Motorhead – flee the field Florence and Faith (Paloma) and walk away Weller – hurry out of site Who who– ever you on this year’s line up you there is a new star on the Glastonbury horizon who is bigger than all of the acts put together.
Something strange seems to be happening this weekend there is one place in the UK which is normally guaranteed rain – because of course its Festival time and that’s Glastonbury at GFD HQ we have just checked the forecast – it must be wrong because except for a very short period on Sunday afternoon it is going to stay dry. Unfortunately that predicted few hours of rain is when the Festivals most unusual and most illustrious headline entertainer is likely to be taking centre stage – we refer of course to not some heavy rock band or some folksy duo but to the Dalai Lama.
The great man his holiness himself is expected to be on stage with his message of non-violence and the oneness of humanity” sometime mid Sunday afternoon if a recent BBC report proves to be correct http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33267419
As we can not show any clips from “U”tube of the great mans greatest hits we thought the next best thing would be to share some of his famous sayings –
“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them”.
“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.”
“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”
“Happiness is not something that comes readymade; it comes from your own actions”
There is something spiritual and enlightening in all of the above – let’s just hope his holiness can keep the rain away from his own presentation
